North Wales: An amber weather warning is now in place. Storm Éowyn is on its way, and it’s expected to hit hard. The warning kicks in at 6am on Friday and lasts until 9pm. Areas like Anglesey, Gwynedd, and Conwy are in the storm’s path.

The Met Office is predicting wind speeds could reach up to 90mph. That’s pretty intense! They’re warning about possible power outages, travel issues, and even damage to buildings. Flying debris could pose a danger to life, so it’s serious.

Storm Éowyn will sweep across the northwest of the UK on Friday. It’ll clear out to the northeast by Friday night. Expect strong winds from the west and southwest, with gusts of 60-70 mph inland and even higher along the coast.

There might be a brief lull in wind strength as the storm passes, especially in Northern Ireland and western Scotland. But don’t get too comfortable; the winds will pick up again quickly. They should start to ease later on Friday.

In addition to the amber warning, there are two yellow warnings in effect. The first one starts Thursday at 7am and lasts until 6pm, affecting Anglesey, Conwy, and Gwynedd.

Travel disruptions, power cuts, and building damage are all on the table. Heavy rain is also expected, moving from west to east on Thursday. Winds could hit 50-60 mph in exposed areas.

The second yellow alert for rain is set for midnight Thursday to 9am Friday. This could lead to local flooding in parts of Conwy and Gwynedd. The Met Office warns of heavy rain accumulations, especially in higher ground.

There’s also a snow alert for parts of northern England and Scotland on Friday morning. Plus, the southeast of England is under a yellow wind alert during Friday morning and early afternoon.
