British Airways is testing a new system to update passengers about luggage mid-flight, aiming to ease travel stress and improve the overall experience.
London: British Airways is rolling out a cool new feature for travelers. Imagine getting updates about your luggage while you’re still in the air. Sounds great, right?
They’ve been testing this with thousands of passengers. Instead of waiting at the baggage claim, you might get a heads-up mid-flight. If your bag didn’t make it, the crew will let you know before you land.
They’ll even take down where you want your bag sent. Plus, you might get some quick compensation, just like at the airport’s lost luggage desk. This could save you a ton of hassle.
And it’s not just about luggage. Over 10,000 passengers have also tried a system that alerts the crew if someone will miss their connecting flight. They’ll talk to you about rebooking options while you’re still on board.
Sean Doyle, the airline’s CEO, is pretty excited about this tech. He called it a “complete leapfrog” from what they have now. He shared this news at a recent airlines conference in London.
He also mentioned they’re working on making travel easier for everyone, including those needing special assistance. They’re testing wheelchairs that can turn into seats on the plane. How cool is that?
And if you have an Apple device, you’re in luck! More than 15 airlines, including BA, are joining a system that lets you track your luggage with Apple AirTags. This year, they’ll start using Apple’s ‘Find My’ feature to help find lost bags faster.
