Motorists in North Wales should prepare for significant delays due to roadworks on the A5 and A470 starting Monday, lasting several weeks.
The A470 work in Conwy will resurface a 1.1km stretch. This could lead to gridlock in Llanrwst, especially near the town center.
Meanwhile, the A5 in Llangollen will see a retaining wall rebuilt over two months. This project is longer and will affect traffic more significantly.
Llanrwst’s roadworks will last about three weeks. They’ll resurface the A470 from the historic Pont Fawr bridge to a lay-by near Meadow Vale filling station.
Traffic signals will guide vehicles through the work zone. The first phase runs from January 27 to February 6, with some night work until February 18.
Traffic Wales warns that the schedule may change based on progress. They aim to work when traffic is lighter to reduce disruptions.
In Llangollen, the A5 work is planned before the holiday rush. A stone retaining wall near Hall Street will be replaced.
Expect temporary traffic lights throughout the project, which runs until March 28. During busy times, these lights will be manually controlled.
No official detours are set up, so plan your routes accordingly. Stay updated on the latest traffic news to avoid the hassle.
