A giant Beluga XL cargo plane had to divert to Birmingham because of fog. It was originally headed to North Wales to pick up aircraft wings.
It was set to pick up wings and then head to Bremen, Germany. But fog rolled in, making it tough to land at Broughton.
The plane circled around Merseyside for a bit. There was talk it might land at Liverpool Airport instead. But guess what? There was fog there too!
So, the Beluga XL was diverted to Birmingham Airport. Luckily, it landed safely, giving folks there a rare chance to see this massive plane up close.
An Airbus spokesperson confirmed the diversion due to fog. They said the plane would stay on the ground until the weather got better.
The Beluga XL is a special aircraft designed to carry large parts, like wings, between Airbus sites. It first flew in July 2018 and started service in January 2020.
