A tragic incident in West Calder has left the community in shock and mourning.
Police arrived at a house on Harburn Drive around 4 PM on Monday. They discovered the girl and a 36-year-old man inside. The circumstances of their deaths are still unclear.
The community is devastated. One neighbour saw firefighters trying to get in and felt something was wrong. “The wee girl was lovely,” they said. It’s shocking to think this happened so close to home.
The family had just moved to the area. Another resident mentioned how the house was often dark, with closed curtains. It seems they kept to themselves, which makes this tragedy even more tragic.
Police are still investigating. They’ve set up a forensic tent outside the home. Officers are on-site to reassure the community and gather information.
This incident has left many feeling uneasy. Chief Inspector Elaine McArthur-Kerr urged anyone with concerns to reach out. The community is coming together, but the loss is heavy on everyone’s hearts.
