A tragic mass stabbing in Germany has left a man and child dead, with police arresting a suspect at the scene. Many others were injured in the attack.
The police quickly arrested a suspect after the attack. Reports say he went on a wild rampage, injuring many others. First responders rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area.
They blocked off a large part of the city, including the park where it all took place. Local traffic was suspended as they worked to secure the area.
According to German news, the suspect was caught nearby. Thankfully, police believe there’s no ongoing threat to the public. Eyewitnesses described the arrest, saying the suspect was taken away “in a headlock.”
Some reports mentioned he tried to escape on the railway tracks. This led to local authorities halting train services in and out of Aschaffenburg.
Schöntal Park has had a troubled past, being labeled a “dangerous place” by officials. There have been previous crimes there, including robbery and assault. Just last year, police conducted a major drug raid in the park, checking on a group of people gathered there.
