A man thought police were out to get him, leading to a chaotic arrest in Wrexham. He faced jail time for his actions and mental health struggles.
Wrexham: So, there was this guy, Carl Bambrough, who really thought the police were out to get him. He ended up getting Tasered twice during his arrest. Crazy, right?
He was in a pretty rough spot, claiming he had a knife and was threatening to hurt himself. The police got a call about it and rushed over to help him out.
When they found him, he was in a front garden, looking pretty out of it. They searched him but didn’t find any knife. He had some fresh cuts on his arms and legs, which he said he did to himself.
The officers tried to help him by offering to take him to a friend’s place or the hospital. But things took a turn when he started saying he had paranoid schizophrenia and thought the cops were “working for the devil.”
They decided to take him to a friend’s house, but as he approached the police car, he knocked it. An officer tried to keep him calm, but things escalated quickly.
He dropped his vape and went to pick it up, which made the officer think he might run away. Then, he squared up to the officer, and that’s when the Taser came out.
The officer warned him, but it didn’t help. The Taser was used, and after stumbling, it was fired again. Bambrough fell forward, and the officers managed to restrain him.
While they were holding him down, he threatened to headbutt one officer and even said he’d “petrol bomb” another officer’s house. He also spat at one of them, which is just gross.
His lawyer mentioned that he was dealing with serious mental health issues at the time. Sadly, it seems like he’s not in a place where he can really get better.
