Stornoway: A mother is in distress after her son went missing. Aleksandr Benga, just 16, disappeared on November 18. He was last seen near Lews Castle.

The police search was called off after two weeks. His mum, Viktorija, feels let down. She says the police told her they lacked resources to continue searching.

Viktorija shared her heartbreak, saying, “No parent should be left in this situation.” She’s determined to find her son. The family moved from Latvia to Scotland 12 years ago.

Aleksandr was staying at a crisis center when he vanished. He was getting support for autism and mental health issues. Viktorija was supposed to pick him up the day after he disappeared.

Now, she’s funding her own search. A rescue team is helping, and nearly £5,000 has been raised online. She’s frustrated with the police’s limited efforts.

Christmas has been tough for her. She just wants her son back home. Inspector Euan Cowan confirmed the police are still reviewing information.

Viktorija is grateful for the support from Action for Children. She hopes for a positive outcome soon.
