Ynys Môn’s new freeport aims to boost jobs and investment while promoting fair work and sustainability in the region
Holyhead: Exciting news! The Welsh Government just launched the Ynys Môn Freeport. This special status is all about boosting the local economy.
It joins the Celtic Freeport in Port Talbot and Milford Haven, which started last November. These freeports offer tax breaks and customs benefits for businesses.

Ynys Môn’s Freeport includes sites like Prosperity Park and Parc Cybi in Holyhead. They aim to attract £6.5 billion in investment and create around 17,000 jobs.
First Minister Eluned Morgan expressed her excitement. She highlighted the importance of green jobs and growth, especially after recent storm damage in Holyhead.
Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Evans added that this initiative will support sustained growth in North Wales. They’re working with the UK Government to finalize business cases for the freeports.
