Rangers supporters may face travel chaos as Storm Eowyn hits Manchester this weekend, causing delays and disruptions for fans heading home.
But getting home could be a real hassle. A rare red weather warning is in effect, and it’s not looking good. Gusts could reach up to 100mph in some areas.
The Met Office has warned that the worst of the winds will hit tomorrow, Friday, January 24, from 10am to 5pm. This warning covers Glasgow and much of the Central Belt.
While winds will be lighter in Manchester, the northwest of England is still under an amber alert. Fans are being told to avoid traveling home tomorrow if they can.
Rail operators like Avanti and TransPennine Express are advising against travel. They’re concerned about safety and want to keep everyone moving as best as they can.
TPE has specifically warned fans not to travel between Manchester and Glasgow. Avanti has also advised against heading north of Preston.
LNER has announced no trains will run north of Newcastle after 11am tomorrow. This is just adding to the stress for fans trying to get back home.
Andrew McClements from TPE emphasized that safety is their top priority. He urged everyone to reconsider their travel plans.
If you have tickets for affected routes, you can either defer your journey or request a refund. Avanti is also allowing ticket use on alternate dates.
So, if you’re planning to travel, make sure to check the latest updates. Stay safe out there!
