Did you know the Royal Family avoids garlic and shellfish? These foods are off-limits due to taste, smell, and health concerns during official events.
If you dream of cooking for them, you’ll need to skip two specific ingredients. One of these is garlic, which is a common kitchen staple. Queen Camilla spilled the beans on this during her time on MasterChef Australia. She mentioned that garlic is a big no-no for the royals.
Why avoid garlic? Well, its strong smell and taste can stick around, making things awkward during royal engagements. Plus, the late Queen Elizabeth II wasn’t a fan either.
The second food they steer clear of is shellfish. Former royal butler Grant Harrold explained that shellfish can cause food poisoning, which is a risk they can’t take while on official duties.
However, when they’re off the clock, they can enjoy shellfish to their heart’s content. The Queen Mother loved indulging in seafood dishes, like the fancy eggs Drumkilbo. It’s a delicious mix of crab, caviar, and more, but definitely not on the royal menu during official events.
So, while they live in luxury, the royals have to follow some pretty strict food rules!
