Scots are warned of heavy snow this week, with some areas expecting up to 11 inches as winter weather returns
Fort William: After a week of mild weather, Scotland is in for a shock. The weather is about to turn wild again. An Atlantic jet stream is bringing strong winds and snow warnings for the west coast.
Weather maps show some areas could see up to 11 inches of snow. The Met Desk data predicts a snowy wall hitting Scotland soon. It’s going to be a chilly week ahead!
On Thursday, snow is expected to blanket the west coast. Fort William and parts of the Western Highlands will see flurries. South Lanarkshire and the Borders might also get some snow.
By Friday morning, a big band of snow will cover much of Scotland. Stirling, Angus, and the Central Highlands are in for a snowy surprise. Perthshire is likely to get the heaviest snowfall.
As the day goes on, the Central and West Highlands will feel the brunt of the snow. Saturday could see up to 3cm of snow per hour across the country.
Expect widespread snow on Saturday morning. The west coast will be covered, stretching from Dumfries and Galloway to Ullapool.
By early Monday, January 27, snow will fall at 3cm per hour just south of Edinburgh. The Cairngorms National Park could see a whopping 28cm of snow!
The Met Office warns of a changeable weather pattern. Rain and strong winds are likely to hit from the southwest. It’s going to be a wet and windy weekend.
While milder weather is expected, there’s still a chance of colder air bringing more snow. So, keep your winter gear handy!
