Police in Greenock have arrested a second 16-year-old in a terrorism case, following an earlier arrest of another teen on the same charges
Greenock: So, here’s the scoop. Police have arrested a second teenager in connection with a terrorism offence. This 16-year-old was taken into custody this afternoon.
This follows the earlier arrest of another 16-year-old today. He was detained outside the Inverclyde Islamic Centre. Both teens are being held under the Terrorism Act.
Assistant Chief Constable Andy Freeburn mentioned that the second teen was arrested for a separate terrorism offence. He’s been released without charge for now, but investigations are ongoing.
Earlier, the first teen was arrested, and police say there’s no risk to the community. They’re looking into possible links to right-wing extremism.
Police are urging anyone with information to step forward. They want to reassure the local community that they’re on top of this situation.
It’s a serious matter, but the police are working hard to keep everyone safe. If you hear anything or have concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to them.
