Falkirk schools are shutting down due to Storm Éowyn’s red alert for high winds, posing serious risks to safety and causing major disruptions.
Kenneth Lawrie, the chief executive, warned that this red warning could be dangerous. It might lead to power cuts and transport issues.
He told the Falkirk Council that all non-essential buildings, including schools, will shut down. They expect damage to buildings and possible mobile outages.
Council staff are advised to only travel for essential reasons. If possible, they should work from home to stay safe.
Karen Algie, the Director of Communities, mentioned that the council’s contact center will have as many staff as possible. They want to help people quickly.
Lawrie also said the council’s website will be updated regularly with more information. Stay tuned for updates!
