Glasgow: A gas engineer from City Building had a rough day. A tree came crashing down on his van during Storm Eowyn. It was a wild morning on January 24.

Emergency services rushed to Balmore Road around 9:05 am. The tree smashed through the van’s roof and hit the windscreen. The young driver got treated on-site before heading to the hospital.

He needed stitches for a head injury, which sounds pretty scary. Video footage from the scene showed the tree still hanging out of the van. You could see the branch poking through the windscreen.

The vehicle has been taken away now. That day, a red weather warning was in effect for central Scotland. Winds were hitting up to 100 mph, so it was no joke.

The Scottish Government advised everyone to stay indoors unless it was an emergency. City Building is one of the biggest construction firms in Scotland, working with Wheatley Homes.

Police Scotland confirmed they got the call about the fallen tree at 9:05 am. They said the driver was treated, and the van was recovered. City Building has been reached for comments.
