North Wales: Today’s weather is about to take a wild turn. Storm Eowyn is rolling in, and it’s not going to be pretty. The calm we’ve had is over.
The Met Office warns of winds over 80 mph in some areas. That’s serious stuff! They’ve issued an Amber warning for wind across North Wales and other parts of the UK.
Expect heavy rain and even snow in some places. It’s going to be a messy mix, especially in Northern Ireland and northern England. Travel disruptions are likely, so be careful out there.
Storm Eowyn will start affecting the weather early today. Winds will pick up first in the southwest, then spread across the country. Snow might fall initially, but it’ll quickly turn to rain as warmer air moves in.
Mike Silverstone from the Met Office says we should brace for widespread disruption. All parts of the UK will feel the impact at some point today.
As the storm moves northeast, the strongest winds will hit Northern Ireland and Scotland. Gusts could reach 90 mph in exposed areas. That’s no joke!
There’s also a Yellow warning for rain in Wales and southwest England. We could see 40-60 mm of rain, leading to possible flooding. So, keep an eye on the weather updates.
Travel conditions will be tricky. If you’re driving, make sure to prepare. Check your vehicle and plan for regular breaks. Safety first!
As Storm Eowyn passes, Saturday will still be breezy, but it should be drier for most. However, another storm is on the way for Sunday, so stay alert!
