A 16-year-old was convicted of attempted murder after a boy was found seriously hurt at a school, raising serious concerns about youth violence.
Holbeach: A shocking incident unfolded when a 16-year-old was found guilty of attempted murder. The victim, also 16, was discovered badly injured under a bush at a primary school.
This all happened on July 28, 2024. The boys had been drinking together that night. The victim passed out, and the defendant left him to walk another friend home.
On his way back, the defendant made a call to a friend. During that call, he allegedly talked about wanting to kill the unconscious boy. That raised alarms.
The friend was worried and called the police, giving them details about where the victim was. Officers quickly arrived and found the boy with serious injuries.
He had cuts on his neck and stomach from a broken bottle. He also had a hemorrhage in one eye and a fractured eye socket. It was pretty bad.
First responders did their best to help him until paramedics arrived. Meanwhile, the police arrested the defendant at his home. He claimed he was confused and didn’t know what happened.
After a trial, the jury found him guilty. He’s set to return to court on March 3 for sentencing. The judge made it clear that he would face time in custody.
