Turriff: A young footballer named Orla Taylor has tragically passed away. She was just 16 years old. Orla caught the flu over Christmas, which turned into sepsis.

She started feeling unwell with a cough before Christmas. On Christmas Day, she developed a fever and began vomiting. Her family took her to the hospital twice, but they were told it was just the flu.

By Hogmanay, her condition worsened, and they called for emergency help. Orla was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Despite being very sick, she was still her cheerful self when she arrived.

Sadly, doctors decided to put her in a medical coma to treat her. By New Year’s Day, Orla had passed away, leaving her family devastated. Her dad, Scott, expressed how much they miss her and how unexpected this loss was.

Orla was a talented footballer and a player-coach for Turriff United. She was known for her vibrant personality and love for sports. Her family shared fond memories of her, from movie nights to family games.

The local football club paid tribute, saying she was a great role model for younger players. They are all feeling the weight of this loss.

Sepsis is a serious condition that can occur when the body reacts badly to an infection. A celebration of Orla’s life is planned for January 27 at Fyvie Parish Church.
