Wellbeing Through Sport Programme


The Wellbeing through Sport Programme is a unique programme aimed at nurturing positive mental health and wellbeing in children through physical activity.

An essential part of promoting positive mental health and wellbeing is to protect our mental and physical health, and nurture emotional intelligence and resilience and at Team Mental Health we believe that to support the growth and development of these attributes, it is crucial to develop what we call the ‘TMH Core Life Skills’.

To promote good mental health and wellbeing across schools, Team Mental Health have worked with EdStart Sports Coaching to consider how we can support children to develop an understanding of the ‘TMH Core Life Skills’ and apply these to their everyday life.

The team at EdStart have used their skills and expertise as sports coaches to develop a range of physical activities designed to align with the ‘TMH Core Life Skills’ and we’ve worked together to produce this unique 12-week Wellbeing Through Sport Programme.

The aim of this programme is to promote good mental health, good physical health, and enable children to develop positive adaptive behaviours which empower them to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life.

Main Features                                          This Programme will include;

  • A unique 12-week programme
  • Through physical activity and reflective practice, it teaches the ‘TMH Core Life Skills’
  • Full list of resources including lesson plans, reflection task sheets and progress assessments for teacher delivery
  • 30-45 minutes of physical activity per lesson
  • Large ‘TMH Core Life Skills’ poster for classroom display
  • A place for one member of staff at Team Mental Health’s CPD UK accredited, Advanced Mental Health Masterclass
  • Online training on the ‘TMH Core Life Skills’ for all staff in school

The Wellbeing through Sport Programme is a unique programme aimed at nurturing positive mental health and wellbeing in children through physical activity, this also helps to promote positive mental health and to bring more awareness to others so anyone can develop the attributes needed to protect our mental health.
When you join the course you will receive dates where you can attend our on site modules and you will also gain access to our online modules via this website, this will help build your understanding whilst giving you something to do both with us and whilst at home, this includes receiving sports coaching from our partners EdStart to benefit your health and this will align with our TMH Core Life Skills, this includes Videos, a poster and PowerPoint presentations to help you.
