Welsh Water has shared details on compensation for those affected by the burst water main in Conwy, ensuring support for impacted households and businesses.
Conwy: So, there was a big water main burst near Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works. It left about 40,000 homes without water for a few days. That’s a lot of people affected!
The incident happened last Wednesday, and they fixed it by Friday lunchtime. But it took over 48 hours for many homes to get their water back. That’s a long wait!
Now, here’s the good news. Dwr Cymru, also known as Welsh Water, is compensating those affected. They just released more info about it.
They’re offering £30 for every 12 hours without water. This will be paid automatically to your bank account or water account if you have a balance. If you don’t have a bank account, they’ll send you a cheque soon.
They also put out some FAQs to help people understand the process. For instance, if you’re a household customer, you’ll get £30 for each 12 hours without water. Easy peasy!
Only the person named on the bill will get the payment. So, if you’re living with someone who pays the bill, they’ll need to pass it on to you.
They’ll figure out who gets paid by checking which properties were affected. No need for customers to call in; they’ll handle it all.
If you pay your bill by direct debit, the money will go straight to your bank. If not, expect a cheque in the mail, which might take a bit longer.
For businesses, they’re offering £75 for every 12 hours without water. Plus, there’s a chance for additional goodwill contributions for losses.
But remember, you need to meet certain criteria to apply for those goodwill payments. They want to make sure everything is fair.
So, if you’re affected, keep an eye out for that compensation. It’s nice to see them stepping up to help out!
