A tragic incident in West Calder has left the community in shock and mourning
Mark Gordon, 36, and his 6-year-old daughter Hope were found dead at their home. This tragic discovery happened after Hope didn’t show up for school.
Her headteacher described her as a bright and affectionate girl. The school community is deeply saddened by her loss.
Fire crews had to break down the door to get inside. The area was sealed off, and a forensic tent was set up in the garden.
A single floral tribute at the scene read, “Fly high little angel.” Police are treating the deaths as unexplained and are conducting post-mortems.
Mark and Hope were known to several support services. In a video posted earlier this year, Mark encouraged kindness while out for a walk.
Hope’s mother was too upset to comment when contacted. The families are devastated, and police are supporting them during this tough time.
Neighbors expressed their shock. One local saw firefighters trying to get in and felt something terrible had happened.
Another resident mentioned that the family had just moved in and kept to themselves. It’s tragic to hear about such a young child involved.
The local police commander acknowledged the community’s distress and thanked everyone for their support. They assured residents that officers would remain in the area.
West Lothian Council extended their condolences but couldn’t comment further due to the ongoing investigation.
