Braemar: A group of whisky enthusiasts had quite the night at The Fife Arms. They ended up with a staggering bill of almost £159,000 after sampling some rare whiskies.

This boutique hotel in Aberdeenshire is known for its stylish vibe and great bars. But this time, it made headlines for a jaw-dropping tab.

A photo of the receipt went viral, showing a total of £158,914. The priciest item? A whopping £67,500 for Balvenie 50-year-old whisky. They ordered 15 drams, each costing £4,500.

Balvenie describes this whisky as having deep fruit scents and flavors of caramelized fruits and soft vanilla. Sounds fancy, right?

They also splurged £40,000 on Laphroaig 1940s Unpeated, ordering 10 drams at £4,000 each. Other pricey picks included Glenlivet G&M 1943 and House of Hazelwood Blended.

In total, they added £26,485.60 in tax. One Facebook user shared the bill, joking about the expensive taste of the group.

People on social media had mixed reactions. Some were surprised the tab got so high. Others joked about the hangover that would follow.

The Fife Arms declined to comment on the guests but has recently been named the best hotel in the world for 2025 by Condé Nast Traveller.

With its impressive art collection and witty staff, it’s no wonder it’s a popular spot. For more details, check out The Fife Arms website.
