Walter Buchanan, once a partygoer, now faces justice for his wife’s tragic death
Hamilton: Walter Buchanan was once the life of the party. He mingled with Scottish celebs at a ‘Saints and Sinners’ event. He even won Best Dressed that night.
But now, he’s behind bars for killing his wife, Darrel. She was 29 years younger than him. They were married for six years before tragedy struck.
At that 2013 event, he partied with ex-Celtic star Frank McAvennie and others. They all had a great time at Hamilton Park Racecourse, raising money for charity.
Walter wore a pink shirt and dark suit, looking sharp. The event helped fund over 100 charities, which is pretty impressive.
But things took a dark turn. Walter was convicted of murdering Darrel after a fight at their home. She accused him of cheating, and things escalated quickly.
On February 18, 2023, he choked her during an argument. He claimed it was self-defense, but the jury didn’t buy it. They found him guilty.
